Home For Christmas Tour 2015

We just finished our Home For Christmas Tour (HFC Tour) with the Whisnants.  This year, the tour visited six states across the southeast and now we are on Christmas break enjoying the holidays with our families.  At the end of the month, we’ll be back on the road for New Year’s!    

You may remember how the Whisnants started the “Egg Nog Challenge” last year during the HFC Tour. This year, they wanted you to bring us something we “liked” – fruit cake!  Almost every night throughout the tour, someone brought us loaves of fruit cake.  I can guarantee you that the men on our bus have never seen so much fruit cake in ALL THEIR LIVES!!! 

On day #3, we stopped at Beryl Baptist Church in Vilonia, Arkansas and sang to a full house.  The pastor of Beryl Baptist, Wade Lentz, is a talented bass singer; we had him and 11 volunteers from the audience help us sing the 12 Days of Christmas.  We also did this at the Back Pack Pals benefit Christmas Concert in Southern Pines, North Carolina and had Aaron Hise’s (Whisnants) father, Ron Hise, and my brother, Jerry Trammell volunteer on this song.  It’s a fun time in the set and we look forward to the interaction we get to have with everyone off stage.  

 That same night, the Whisnants joined a special trio, Cooper and Bailey, on their songs “Saved is All You Have to Be” and “I’ll Pray For You” during the concert.  Cooper is a young man with an amazing testimony of how he came to sing Gospel Music with his father and friend.  It was a joy to see him sing with Jeff and Susan in addition to a few Christmas songs before we began our program.   

The Carolina’s are where the Whisnants are from and we also sang at the church that Susan Whisnant’s Dad pastor’s in Rock Hill, South Carolina.  Everywhere the HFC Tour went, we had an awesome time!           

In closing, I’d like us to celebrate the reality of the birth of One who can save.  The Christmas story in Luke chapter two is not just words you hear the pastor say during a play when kids are pretending to be shepherds and wise men.  It’s reality.  It’s not just a story in a book, it actually took place.  If time permitted, I would love to walk through the whole story with you…there are so many details we bypass.  While it’s interesting to study, the truth and bottom line is still that the Savior was born in a manger for you and me.  Before we go, let’s look at one little thing in Luke 2:10-11…        

“And the angel said unto them, Fear not: for, behold, I bring you good tidings of great joy, which shall be to all people.”

All.  A-L-L. 

If I go into the Greek and look at that word which in the English language means “all” – do you know what it means in the Greek language?  Everybody.  If you’re breathing, you’re included. 

“For unto you is born this day in the city of David, a Savior, which is Christ the Lord.”

All over our country and the world, there are people who need Jesus this Christmas; which means the truth we just looked at is more precious than it’s ever been.  As we celebrate Christ’s birth, let us remember that, “He’s the center of the season – without Christ, there’s no Christmas Day.”
